This is another recipe from "The Big Book of Preserving the Harvest" by Carol W. Costenbader. It is supposed to calm the nerves and digestive tract. If you grow your own herbs and dry them, it is really good, but you can use storebought.
- 118.29 ml dried lavender flowers
- 118.29 ml dried mint
- 118.29 ml dried rosemary leaves
- 59.14 ml dried chamomile
- 59.14 ml dried clove
- Combine all the ingredients and store in an airtight container away from heat, moisture and light.
- Use 1 tsp of the mix per 6 oz. of boiling water, using a tea ball or teapot and strainer. Let steep for 5--8 minutes.
I had to look around a little for the chamomile, I could only get huge quantities and wanted to try it before making Lots!!! I had lavender in my garden and the other ingredients were easily sourced. A very pleasant soothing tea, I enjoyed this very much, having tried it, I shall now make a larger quantity to enjoy and share with friends!! Thank you Jen, made for P-A-R-T-Y! tag!
I boo-booed and whirled the herbs in a coffee mill. No wonder it didn't strain properly. I also used less cloves but did use dried lavender from my garden! I can feel my nerves calming as I type. I will make sure to try this for what it is specifically meant for next time around. Thanks for posting! cg
I really enjoyed this tea. I quartered the blend because I didn't have enough to make the full blend. I used slightly less cloves. I love the flavor and will use this throughout the winter for a very relaxing and healthy tea! Thank you Jen! I'm glad I picked you for the Pick a Chef game!
