Quick wholemeal beer bread

I'm posting this recipe here so that I don't lose it! I haven't tried it but it seems worth trying. Can't get much easier. With a good stout or dark beer this could be extremely yummy. Originally from the kitchen of Rosemary Champion.

  1. Sift flour and then mix well.
  2. Bake in an oven at 350 deg F for approx 40 minutes.

This bread has great flavor when you use a dark beer. I used Bass Ale. I followed the directions exactly, baking the batter right away. However, it didn't rise one iota, creating a dense, chewy loaf, and wasn't too bad. I'll bet this batter needs to sit awhile to let the beer and sugar do it's thing and create a little bubbly rise. Maybe you could even cheat a little and add some baking powder. I'm not a bread whiz, so these are just suggestions.
