  • Drain mushrooms, reserving liquid. Set mushrooms aside for another use (topping, perhaps).
  • Combine reserved mushroom liquid with all other ingredients.
  • Use on pizza of your choice.

  1. Fast and versatile sauce. I added the mushroom pieces as well (chopped up slightly more - why not?) and some basil as well. Loved the flavour the fennel brought to the sauce - tasted like a montreal-style pizza.
     
  2. Loved this quick and easy pizza sauce! This goes together very quickly, using ingredients that I always have on hand. I like a thicker sauce, so I used a 6 oz. can of tomato paste instead of the tomato sauce. Also, I added some salt (to taste) and a little bit of sugar (to cut the acidity of the tomato paste). The fennel was a nice additon to the sauce. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe...it is definitely a keeper! *Made for 2009 Football Pool*
