This recipe allows anyone the ability to make flour tortilla almost from scratch. Mix, knead and cook, that's all there is to it.


  1. Combine all ingredients until you get a big ball of dough. With floured hands, knead for 10 minutes.
  2. On floured surface, divide the dough in half and then in half again. This should give you 4 dough sections. Divide each section in half and then roll each section into a ball. You should end up with 8 balls. Using a tortilla press or rolling pin, flatten each ball into a round tortilla.
  3. Brown each in a cast-iron fry pan (medium-high) or on a griddle (375 degrees F). Should take each batch 4 minutes per side.
