This turned out wonderfully. After reading the comments I just added a teaspoon or so of italian seasoning.
A really easy, versatile, and tasty soup. I used ground chuck, doubled the garlic...love it, added beef broth instead of the bouillon cubes and water, Italian blend frozen vegetables, and small shell pasta because I couldnt find orzo. Since I bought the Italian vegetables I added a small can of tomato sauce and some italian seasoning. Needed just a little something so I added salt, celery seeds, and some lemon pepper. Served with sliced sourdough bread and enjoyed supper a lot tonight! Made and reveiwed for PAC Fall 2008.
Very good and easy to make. I followed the recipe except I used crushed tomatoes and beef broth instead of the bouillon and water. I also used a can of mixed veggies instead of frozen as I am not a big fan of frozen veggies. I did have to add a bit of salt but we thought the seasoning was just right. Everyone enjoyed it. I even have some to heat up for lunch tomorrow! Made for Fall PAC 2008.
A great idea but this soup, unfortunately, fell short in the flavour department. I added a bit of crushed thyme and some italian seasoning to try to compensate but it still needed more. If I would make this again I would add quite a bit of dried herbs and maybe some cayenne or crushed red pepper. Still a good recipe to play with. Thank you for posting.
