This fudge is delish! I did run out of my can of cocoa powder (I use the Hintz Dutch Processed brand) and so, I used 4 tbsps + 1/4 tbsp. of cocoa powder and the rest of Cadbury's Original drinking chocolate powder. The combo has worked really well in this recipe. My dad enjoyed this fudge after his lunch today, immensely. Thank you so much for posting! P.S. I am very sorry your dad is no more. I am sure you do miss him, but by sharing one of his best recipes with the rest of us, your doing wonderful. I'm sure he's smiling upon you always...

I don't feel I can rate this recipe with stars, so Im just adding my comments. I grew up eating the Hershey Can recipe fudge. Not having the exact recipe or the time I found this recipe, and was sure I'd hit the jackpot. I tried twice, using my little bit of previous knowledge of fudge making, and neither time had much luck. I cooked the sugar and milk mixture until it formed a soft ball in cold water. Then on the first batch I beat it by hand until dull. It didn't set up well and had a very grainy sugary texture. The second batch I beat with an electric mixer, thinking I hadn't beat well enough or hard enough or long enough. It set this time but still way to grainy. I don't know what I did wrong, and Im almost sure its not the recipe. It has a great flavor, just too grainy like the sugar never melted. The instructions didn't specify how long to cook or how long/when to stop beating. Maybe some further details for us novice fudge makers would help. I'd like to try again!

Easy and fast and good. Yes, is a little grainy but we don't mind that. I'm going to try to tweak a little and use this recipe as a base for Amarula Fudge to use in Christmas baskets. Thanks for a great start!

The fudge was very easy to mix up. I cooked on the stovetop approx. 10 minutes, poured into my prepared pan and it set up fine. It's a little softer than I like in fudge but not too bad. DH enjoyed the flavor but I am not that big of a fan of peanut butter so that really stood out to me. I think next time I will try to substitute something for the peanut butter. It's a little too grainy and I think if I cook it a little longer next time that might help. I think this is one of those recipes that can be tweaked with to suit your taste.
