  1. I couldn't wait to see how this quick fix would help my neglected nails. Obviously, it's not a miracle cure, but my nails did look a lot better, dry skin removed and a good sheen to the nails. I think this recipe will be great for someone with already well manicured hands. It's important to use some good hand lotion after this remedy, since the baking soda is very drying!

  2. This fix is easy to fix and did impart a beautiful softness to my nails in addition to a good sheen. However, I do agree with the other reviewer, Geema, that it's important to use a good hand lotion(I used Enchanteur romantic perfumed body lotion) after rinsing off the nails because the baking soda indeed is very drying. I made this as part of the "Pick your chef" coookathan! I know it's already reviewed, but to be honest, I had this in mind for the cookathon, ever since you had posted it.

  3. I think what this quick fix is doing is offering a buff to the nail, with the inert part of the baking soda. (The lemon acid and baking soda base, of course, react immediately to just form water.) Definitely very drying to the cuticles - it was a little painful to me. I think I would just use a buffing brush, which offers more control to protect the skin.

  4. This really improved the condition of my cuticles and nails. The nails felt very smooth afterwards and the dry skin around them was much improved. Definitely follow with a rich hand lotion as suggested by others. Thanks Mimi!

  5. Long delayed appointment at the nail salon so I needed some home treatment that would make my nails look a bit more presentable. This really held tidy my cuticles and brightened my nail beds. One note of caution is that you should have a good lotion on hand as an after-treatment as the quick fix is a little drying on the hands.

Very busy nanny/au pair, working for a very rich and snooty family, in a very large home, in a very snooty village. Just in case my employer comes here, please don't ask where I am from, or I'll be sacked like the last nanny was. ;-) I take care of 4 gorgeous, and darling kids. 3 girls and a boy. The boy is the youngest (and my favorite). They are great children, very, very active. (Hyper) I love to cook. I guess that's a given, why else would I be here. Part of my job is also to prepare meals for the family. The more they like my food, the longer I get to stay. (just a little joke) On my day off, I usually go out to the cinema or some dance clubs with the other au pairs in this town. That's about it I think.
