Whoo-Hoo-Hoo!! My family and I LOVED this casserole. Very zesty and well seasoned meat sauce. Your instructions were easy to follow and the zucchini was tender but not mush at the end of baking. Rich and cheesy too. Thank you for a unique and interesting new dish.

Filling and easy-to-make casserole but a bit too spicy for our taste. Next time I make this casserole I will cut back on the red pepper flakes a little.

I give this wonderful recipe, 5 "Pizza" Stars! LOL The taste of the sausage, the zesty peppers and tomato sauce really hits the spot. My friends did not want to leave after visiting, until I gave them my "Secret" recipe for this dish!
I can't wait till I make it once again for other guests and receive complements.
I tip my "Cooking Hat Off" to the talented cook who created this "Quick and Zesty" dish!!!

Quick and easy and lots of flavour. I had just made some Jo Mama's World Famous Spaghetti yesterday so I used that instead of the canned tomato sauce. Since the recipe already had Italian sausage, red pepper flakes and basil I omitted those from this recipe. I double the ingredients because I cooked a full box of penne before realizing the recipe called for 1/2 so I added more of the other ingredients to balance it out. It was a hit and I will be making it again. Great recipe for university kids to make too.

Very good indeed. I already had prepared tomato sauce in the fridge, (made with similar ingredients), so I used that, adding it to the sausage. We don't get Jimmy Deans here, so I used chorizo sausage.
I subbed peas (only one layer) for the zucchini, and allowed them to cook in the casserole in the same way, they cooked perfectly.
A very nice casserole that the whole family thoroughly enjoyed; since my tomato sauce was already prepared it took me only around 40 minutes to have this on the table. Served with garlic bread, an excellent mid-week supper!
This dish was made in memory of Judy-Jude, January 2009, may she rest in peace.

This dish was OK, but not for discriminating Italian palettes. For a family, it's perfect because of its mild flavor. I used sweet sausage, but would use spicy instead of pepper flakes for a more thorough, spicy taste. I'd also add more tomato sauce, since mine turned out dry. All in all, a hearty meal but a little bland.

We thoroughly enjoyed this. Unfortunately, the DH brought home cucumbers rather than zucchini, so I had to omit that part, but will definitely be adding it in the future. I did add one can of Italian flavored stewed tomatoes which made it a bit more chunky and kept me from missing the zucchini too much. Everything had a really good flavor and this is definitely a keeper.

Wonderful recipe! I didn't have Jimmy Dean sausage on hand so used hamburger and added some pepperoni with it. I just added a pinch of red pepper flakes. I tweaked the recipe a bit by adding a 3/4 can of tomatoes, with diced sweet onion, with the tomato sauce.
