I followed the recipe precisely and I kept it in the oven a little longer probably about 13 minutes, but the cookies didn't come out as I expected it to. the cookies taste like sugary flour that has over bearing amount of vanilla extract. and they're are soft in the middle and hard around the edges. this is definitely not what I wanted...
This recipe sucked, it created hard sugary partly burnt pancakes. Don't make them, but if you truly must then add a dash of milk and a spank more baking soda than the recipe recommends and put them in for 10 minutes. this makes them not so bad, people may just nibble politely on them for you instead of blatantly turning their noses up.
This was an easy, simple recipe and I was a little skeptical about it seeing as it didn't even have salt! The dough was nice and hard and it baked well. I got a little bored with plain sugar cookies so I started rolling them in cinnamon sugar as suggested. I also rolled a few in cocoa powder and some in a coconut sugar mixture. The coconut ones were my favorite!! I also had to leave halfway through the dough batch so I stuck it in the fridge for when I got back. I noticed that the cookies I made with the cold dough came out softer because they didn't flatten out as much. I highly recommend chilling the cookies and making them tablespoon sized instead of teaspoon sized.
When my sister and I made ours we followed the recipe EXACTLY. The dough was really good, a little sticky but otherwise perfect so we stuck them in the oven. When we came back to the oven they puffed up to biscuits and when we tried to taste them it was just sugar. Needless to say we're gonna try to make this again.
The recipe as is isn't the greatest. I upped the sugar to 2 cups lowered the baking soda to 1tsp and reduced the flour to 2 cups and reduced the vanilla to 3/4 of a tsp.... Made all the difference!
Did not turn out well for me....maybe i am just a bad cook. Or maybe there was too much flour in the recipe. Idk they turned out ok and looked ok but they tasted bad.
This was awesome!!!my mom and I really loved them they were not to sweet not too crunchy! They were just perfecto
I too questioned no salt? Double checked recipe and another reviewer had made same observation and loved the recipe. I loved the recipe. Wrote out on a recipe card and added to my favorite homemade book of my recipes. I added crushed/chopped Andes crème di menthe thins and white choc. chips. very good. Then I made this recipe with some green food coloring and added peppermint extract, added the Andes...and white choc. chips for Christmas!
Best recipe I have ever made for sugar cookies. They come out perfect every time.
