Quick Chocolate Chip Scones

This is a slight variation on a Joy of Cooking recipe. I never have buttermilk on hand, and it doesn't seem worth buying a whole carton for one recipe, so I always use milk and lemon juice.

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Place wax paper on a large baking sheet.
  3. Combine dry ingredients (except chocolate) in a large bowl.
  4. Combine other ingredients in a second bowl.
  5. Blend the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
  6. Add chocolate chips.
  7. Drop by large spoonfuls onto the baking sheet.
  8. Bake 15 minutes.

well they were good but they weren't scones just kind of pathetic cookies but great if u were going 4 that the problem was they didnt rise
