This recipe is the best home-made alfredo sauce! One suggestion - substitute 1/2C each freshly grated romano and asiago for the 1C parmesan. We added crab meat for a seafood alfredo that even the kids loved!

This is a very quick and easy recipe that can be adapted to a Solo meal ... and works great in the microwave. For enough sauce to meet the needs of a cup of dried pasta, use 2 ounces each of cream cheese and milk, and one ounce of butter. Microwave on high for about a minute and 45 seconds. Take it out, stir, and add a couple ounces or more of parmesan cheese. Stiring in the parmesan cheese last will help thicken the sause.

I added a bit of basil garlic and oregano to this and it was a perfect 5 - thanks so much for the great idea for dinner on a Wednesday Night.

So easy! Whisked in ground rosemary, garlic powder, parsley flaked and leftover cubed chicken breast; it was delicious served over noodles. Thank you for posting, Marilyn.

Scaled this down to make a quick lunch for one, served over tortellini with peas & carrots. Very yummy! I made the sauce in the microwave, and would advise others to watch the sauce very carefully and heat it in short bursts or on a low setting, otherwise it can boil up which results in a less-than-perfect consistency. I also used herb & garlic cream cheese, which was a great way to season it effortlessly :)

Wow was this good! I didn't have parmesan so I used asiago and added some salt, pepper and garlic powder. This was terrific and I'm sure to make it often.

Geeze, didn't this recipe suprise me! I had had all the ingredients available so used this recipe in Chicken With Tomato Basil Cream Sauce. This recipe alone was very good and a snap to make up. I was shy on the cream cheese, so I cut the milk and parmesan cheese down slightly and used 1/4 cup butter. I had not read the other comments, but I think I would have added the garlic powder just to balance the taste. I would say, though that the cost factor of this sauce would be up there with the commercial variety, unless you got your ingredients on sale...so just a though! Good one, Marilyn

Delicious, I added some garlic for flavor and it was yummy!! I used lo-fat cream cheese and skim milk, came out fine. The consistency was very thick as it cooled. Will definitely make again.
