This is a blast from the past. I drank purple cows as a child, but that was many moons ago. Purple cows are a grape juice plus milk drink that is very good, especially when ice cream is added. You can make pink cows by using cranberry juice instead of the grape. I suppose, in fact, you could substitute any juice you like: orange cows, for example. But grape was always my favorite and still is!

Directions

  1. Combine milk, grape juice, and half the ice cream in the container of an electric blender. Whirl at high speed until thick and foamy.
  2. To serve: Pour into 4 tall glasses. Top with remaining ice cream, dividing evenly. Garnish with whipped cream from a pressurized can and maraschino cherries if you wish.
