I just made this for a snack for myself. I used 2 regular pieces of pumpernickle bread and it was delicious. I am looking forward to making it with cocktail bread when we have company. Thanks for a great recipe.

The best appetizer ever. Served this at our New Year's Eve party, I made 2 batches and they were gone! I used cocktail rye and the dijon really gave it a nice flavour. I made them ahead of time and kept them cool on the cookie sheet until I needed them. They only need about 5 min under the broiler. My friend wanted the recipe and when I went to a party at her house she served them with the same success. Thanks!!!
