• 36.97 ml butter or 36.97 ml hard margarine
• 36.97 ml mild molasses
• 473.18 ml bread flour
• 473.18 ml rye flour
• 36.97 ml cocoa
• 22.18 ml brown sugar, packed
• 6.16 ml caraway seeds (optional)
• 12.32 ml bread machine yeast
• 4.92 ml salt
• 3.69 ml instant coffee granules

1. Place all ingredients in bread machine in given order.
2. Follow manufacturer's instructions.

Delicious! I used the caraway seeds. We like them. I started this in the bread machine and finished it in the oven. I made the the bread specifically to serve with pastrami and swiss cheeze sandwiches. It was perfect.

In my opinion, the caraway is NOT optional!! It gives the bread that extra little something. This is my absolute favourite bread for sandwiches or with a hearty bowl of soup.

Great recipe. This was my first attempt at Pumpernickel bread and this was quick and easy to put together. I followed the directions exactly as written, except I didn't use the optional caraway seed. Will make this bread again. Thanks for the recipe!!!
