This was grandma's recipe and has been handed down and altered here and there. For a richer gravy, I also had a few dollups of sour cream but it is optional. Serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 78 ounces onion soup mix
  • 12 cup breadcrumbs
  • 14 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon A.1. Original Sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 12 cup milk
  • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 (18 ounce) jars beef gravy
  • 12 cup sour cream

Directions

  1. Mix egg into milk in a large mixing bowl. Add meats, celery salt, onion soup, bread crumbs, ketchup and steak sauce and mix well. Shape mixture into balls. Place in large skillet with about 1/2 inch of water. Cover and cook until browned.
  2. In a crock pot, mix together gravy, sour cream and mushroom soup. Add meatballs and cook for at least 2 hours, but can be left all day.
  3. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice or egg noodles.
