Questions & Replies

  1. I love these rolls, they are a big hit with my family! Is it possible when separating and shaping them to make them much larger to use as bread bowls for soup? Or would I need to make other changes as well for that to work?

  2. I'm making these right now. I did not add the egg white, after reading other recipes I assume you use the egg white to brush the top of rolls before baking. Some say to brush, bake half way and brush again. Could someone tell me the skinny on this? Thanks so much...fingers crossed.

  1. I made these "per the recipe", the first time and have made them three times more with a few tweaks. Where on earth is this, "using the egg white for something other than putting it in the bread", even coming from! It completely changes the bread without it. Without egg white I might give it 2 stars. The other tweaks was using the entire egg which makes it a softer, richer, lighter bread which depending on the meal it went with I think I liked it better. The other thing I tried was adding a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of sugar. It was more like a dinner roll but still VERY good. 4 1/3 + 1 tablespoon of flour I found to be the perfect amount especially when using an entire egg. The dough is still a little sticky but totally workable.

  2. I made these as sandwich rolls, because with the virus concern, I didn’t want to make an unnecessary trip to the store. My family LOVED them. I’m going to make as two loaves of bread today. Anyone know how long to bake them?

  5. This is a very nice recipe. I prepared it all by hand because I don't have a bread machine, and it came together quickly. The rolls weren't that crusty after baking, but I reheated/toasted some later and there was then a bit of crunch to the outside. Thank you for sharing this.

Tweaks

  1. Long sandwich rolls

  2. These were great. I almost screwed up and forget about 1 cup of water. I used Ms Dash instead of salt and used olive oil instead of oil. DH said it was the best bread he's ever had. Served with pork roast, but looking forward to having with soup tonight.
