Prevent Apple Slices from Turning Brown

"A tip I read somewhere (?) recently. As I don't like the citrus tang added to some recipes by using lemon juice so this is the method I used on Thanksgiving so that I could chop my apples for the stuffing ahead of time. Also used it for the apples slices that went with the dip. The slices sat on the table for hours and did not change color."

  1. This will actually work with almost ANY soda; it's the carbonic and phosphoric acids that are doing the trick. In fact, it might even work with plain soda water, just from the acidity of the dissolved carbon dioxide. Good tip!

  2. This really works! I even used diet soda....cause that is all I had. I do have fresh lemons but I didn't want a lemony taste for what I was doing with the apples. Great tip, Kat's Mom!
