  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Grease and flour 4 bread loaf pans.
  • In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.
  • Stir in eggs, pumpkin and water.
  • Blend in flour, salt, baking soda and powder, and spices.
  • Stir in 1-1/2 cups of nuts.
  • Bake for 70 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
  • Heat frosting until smooth and thick (NOT runny).
  • Drizzle liberally over cooled bread; sprinkle top with remaining nuts.

I'm a single mother from NJ and I am a bake-a-holic. I love to bake ANYTHING; from cakes to cupcakes and cookies to bars, I really love it. I love creating new recipes or tweaking ones that I have to my own tastes. I have a HUGE number of 'bake'books and recipe cards that I have collected through the years. It wasn't until I was looking for a recipe (that I could ONLY find on Zaar, mind you)that I got completely hooked! We were getting SO tired of the same old baked chicken or spaghetti with tomato sauce from a jar. But now, with all these new recipes in my cookbooks, we're trying new (and TASTY!!!) things every day. I am SOOOO excited to finally have a place to put ALL my favorite recipes, as well as pick up some new ones. My most exciting discovery on Zaar was the crock-pot/slow-cooker recipes! We never used a crock-pot when I was growing up and I never understood why - I thought it was so easy, dump everything in before you leave for work and when you get home your dinner is ready and your house smells great (or so I've been told). But then I found out that 'back when I was growing up', there weren't that many recipes for crock-pots. But now that I found pages and PAGES of recipes on the Zaar, I'm investing in a crock-pot! Thanks to all of you who have posted FANTASTIC recipes! Other then that, I love doing crafts, mostly cross-stitching/embroidery and especially holiday crafts.
