This is most likley a 5 star. The butter was nice trick. The only reason I gave it four stars was I used cuban bread some pork and a press. I just think a cuban sandwich needs the pork to be a cuban sandwich.

These were yummy! A nice blend of flavors and textures, plus a nice zing fromt he garlic spread..I might use even more next time. My changes were in preparation only: I roasted my garlic in a countertop convection oven, reducing the cook time to 30 min to account for that change. Also, I used my George Foreman Grill to press and toast these, which took a total of 4 minutes (since both sides grill at the same time), and I very lightly brushed the outside of the bread with olive oil, to prevent any sticking.

Good! I've been in love with these Cuban Sandwiches since I first had them 3 years ago. This is a decent recipe for it. Did not have time to roast the garlic, so used Lawry's Garlic Spread Concentrate. The garlic and zip of the dijon with the pickles on the sandwich make it so much more interesting than your regular ham & turkey. Plus the grilled flavor makes it special. Yummy.

This is NOT a Cuban Sandwich! Call it what it is. A turkey hoagie.<br/>A true Cuban sandwich is made with roasted fresh ham (pernil) or roast pork if fresh ham, is not available, serrano ham (if you can find it) or a close substitute, mustard, pickles, and butter on Cuban or French bread.
