      This is a great method for cooking dried black beans. I used the onion soup mix and 1 tsp garlic powder and omitted the onion powder and salt. The biggest change I made was to cook the beans on high all day in my crockpot. I'll be making these again and will try them plain too. Thanks, Elizabeth!

      I'm back to finish my review. After freezing the black beans, I pulled them out to use in Upside Down Nacho Bake. They held their shape nicely after being in the freezer and then back into a hot pot and in the oven. So now, after running the full gambit, your recipe receives 5 Stars. I'll be cooking up my own black beans from now on. Thank you!! ....Oct9, 2010- I'm going to start out with 4 stars at first because these were SO easy to make! I add everything into the pan at the same time as I started cooking the beans. Made for Healthy choice ABC
