Prawns in a Tarragon and Tomato Sauce

A tasty, spicy recipe that I cook a lot for my fella. Generously serves two people. Very easy, very quick and goes great with cous cous.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 (420 g) can tomato soup
  • 15 g fresh tarragon
  • 200 g prawns
  • 1 yellow pepper
  • 12 teaspoon cracked chili
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 fish stock cube


  1. fry until soft the chopped onion, chopped yellow pepper and chopped garlic in a frying pan using the vegetable oil.
  2. add the prawns, tomato soup, cracked chilli's, stock cube and tarragon and simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. ready to serve.

I made this for my best friend's birthday, and had to multiply it three times to feed everybody coming over. I opted to be a bit festive (and cheap because we had to buy wine!) so I used a smaller sized shrimp insted of prawns. I also chopped the onion and pepper to the size of the shrimp. It worked fantastically! The pieces were just the right size to keep people from picking out the shrimp from the rest of the concoction. Couscous is the best grain to pair this with, too. I would think noodles would be unwieldy, and rice just not the right texture.
