    This recipe is from the early 1960's and is among the first comfort foods which I prepared as a young inexperienced cook. Cooked green beans may be substituted for the corn. I do not remember where I found the recipe. At that time, I was very proud of preparing such a tasteful dish. I have not used the recipe for several decades. I am posting in Zaar in order to prevent losing it.

    Directions:

      In a saucepan brown beef and cook onion until tender.

      Pour off fat.
    3. 3
      Stir in 3/4 cup of the cheese and all other remaining ingredients.

      Spoon into 1 1/2 quart casserole.
    5. 5
      Top with remaining cheese.
    6. 6
      Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

      Made this for the last work potluck and was not impressed at all. Virtually tasteless and I followed the recipe exactly. There was a lot leftover which had to be tossed. Sorry but won't be repeating this one.

      This satisfied our search for a great, easy comfort food. It was a bit on the sweet side for our tastes, but that may be partially due to my forgetting to add the mustard. I think next time I will use crushed tomatoes instead of the soup, which am sure added uneeded sugar.

      This definitely gets a 5 for ease and simplicity of making. My son said it tasted like lasagna with pasta all through i,t rather than in layers, he straight away said five stars mum. My grocery store had sold out of tomato soup so I bought tomato and mascarpone cheese soup. I also added some garlic cloves and I made with gruyere cheese instead of cheddar, I have stated in other reviews that call for chedder, here in Switzerland because of all the yummy mountain cheeses we get, chedder is so bland and aweful, so I never use it. This was so good and I will keep this for those care free after work fast meals that taste great. I served mine with garlic bread and salad greens. A great post MrsJ
