My mom was a wonderful cook this is her recipe, she was able to make the plainest ingredients into the best foods.

  1. Peel and chunk potatoes; boil in just enough water to cover.
  2. add all ingredients except milk; when potates are tender, slightly mash about 1/2 of the potatoes.
  3. add milk simmer 20 min.
  4. serve with warm buttered bread.

Sounds like mom's cooking. She used to make the same soup, but sometimes added bacon instead of ham. Me, I like to boil the ham bone with the potatoes, the flavor from the bone goes all through the soup. Thakns for the dinner idea. Patt
