Delicious! Followed recipe except for substituting dillweed with 1/4 tsp dill seed as didn't have the dillweed on hand. We added a bit of shredded cheddar cheese, instead of bacon bits, as a topping to each bowl. Definitely a repeat recipe!
It would also be a good base for other types of soup like corn chowder or clam. Just add a can of creamed corn or a can of clams.
I added a couple extra potatoes for a thicker soup and didn't use the celery. I also used cheddar cheese on top instead of bacon, which is a MUST for ever potato soup lover! Cheddar cheese was made for it :) Try putting it in a bread bowl! Carve out the center of a small round loaf, and pour the soup in- YUM! Husband loved it!
Very tasty soup. Will make again. Thanks for posting.
Fantastic. Tastes just like my moms. Didn't have celery, and used only about 1/2 tsp. of dill, added rivels. Yummy! I did have to cook it longer than 20 to get the veggies to the 'tender' point, but I didn't mind waiting! Even my DD's loved it.
Amazing! I followed the recipe to a T as well as added cubed ham. My 8 yr old ate it which makes this a keeper :)
This was a good soup. Shared with the neighbors, gone in a night. Thanks for sharing!
Perfect for Fall. My dad makes this all the time so I got the link from him to make it while I'm 600 miles away for school. The dill really seals the recipe up nice.
My family absolutely loved this recipe!
I made this for my family the other night and it hit the spot. I have never added dill weed to my potato soup and it was a nice change of flavor. Its been cold here and this soup took the chill off of us. thank you for sharing with us.
