ingredients
- 1⁄2 lb ground beef
- 1⁄2 lb ground pork
- 1⁄2 cup potato, shredded
- 1⁄2 cup onion, diced
- 3⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon pepper
- 1⁄8 teaspoon allspice
- 1⁄8 teaspoon dried thyme
directions
- Mix all ingredients together by hand.
- Shape into 8 patties.
- Fry in a lightly oiled skillet on medium-low heat until well browned. About 10 minutes per side. Cook on medium low to ensure slow and thorough cooking all the way to the inside.
- Check the inside of one patty to ensure they are no longer pink inside.
- Serve hot.

While this is close, to me it is not potato sausage (potatis korv). My great-grandmother brought the recipe over from Sweden and allspice and thyme are not a part of potato sausage and ours is stuffed into casings, the potatoes ground up like the beef, and water is used to make it more malleable while stuffing... of course we also make a much larger batch to feed the family and freeze what we don't immediately eat
