I followed this recipe exactly and the resulting pancakes were wonderful. The directions were easy to follow and precise. Before serving I did blot the pancakes of paper towelling to absorb some of the cooking oil. Made for Zaar Stars Tag.
I halved the recipe for two of us, but they were SO delicious that I could certainly have eaten more than my share of these. Fantastic blend of flavours... thyme, lemon juice: these potato pancakes already contained the ingredients I would have been inclined to add had they not been in the list of ingredients. My only addition was 2 cloves of minced garlic, which I added to the grated ingredients in step one. And the apple sauce was brilliant with these. I'll certainly be making these again. Wonderful! Seasonings and timing are perfect. I did cheat on this-I used boughten refrigerated hash browns. I did not realize that I was out of applesauce so dolloped on some low fat yogurt, but it would be best with applesauce. Thank you for sharing another keeper, Lainey6605. I love the sour tartness of these. I haven't made potato pancakes before so these were a treat. I would highly recommend eating with the applesauce. I thought that it would be a weird combination but I really enjoyed it. My 3 yr old son who believes everything must have ketchup on it liked it better with the applesauce too. These were very good German potato pancakes! They have a very distinct sour German flavors to it which I love. I was hesitant to try it with the applesauce, but my German friend insisted that they eat it with an apple cream and it tastes best with it. I ended up loving the applesauce with it! Made for ZWT 4.
Just beautiful, what a great potato pancake. The lemon juice and thyme really brings out a freshness in these. I didn't have any apple sauce today they were great without. I add one with sour cream and one with a little sprinkle of salt. Great recipe thank you.
