- 2 lbs pot roast
- 1 lb small onion
- 1⁄4 lb small mushroom
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomatoes
- 1⁄4 cup water
- 1⁄2 cup red wine
- 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
- 1⁄2 teaspoon sugar
- salt and pepper
- oil (for frying)
directions
- Heat the oil in a large pot and brown the meat all over.
- Remove the meat.
- Add onions and mushrooms to pot and saute.
- Return meat to pot.
- Add the tomatoes, water, wine, mixed herbs, sugar, salt and pepper.
- Cook until tender, approximately 2 hours.
- Let the meat rest for 10 minutes before carving and serve the pot juices alongside the slices of beef.
