  • 1 (1/4 ounce) package unflavored gelatin
  • 14 cup cold water
  • 12 cup sugar
  • 1 34 cups hot coffee
  • 14 cup Irish whiskey (or other alcoholic beverage) (optional)
  • whipped cream

directions

  • Sprinkle gelatin over the cold water and let stand until soft, 5-7 minutes.
  • Combine sugar, coffee and whiskey. Add gelatin and stir until fully dissolved.
  • Divide mixture among 4 small coffee cups. Refrigerate until set. Dollop with whipped cream before serving.

  1. Great idea, thanks for posting! I made two batches for company, and accidentally I mixed the whipped cream into one batch of half-set coffe, because I made something like that with lemon yoghurt before. The regular batch with cream topping was the best, but the mixed version was okay, too.

I'm a 48 y/o gay Jewish man in the suburbs immediately north of New York City. I'm a general internist, practicing and teaching at a medical college north of NYC. I also earned a Masters in Public Health degree in 2013. After a Walt Disney World trip in Dec 2006 where I had to rent an electric scooter because I couldn't manage the walking, I decided to have gastric bypass surgery, which was done Feb 28, 2007. I lost 160 lbs (though I've gained back about 60 of that since). I can't eat as much as I used to, so I want every bite to be extra good!
