  • In a small bowl mix mayonnaise, sour cream and lemon juice.
  • Grill or broil mushrooms brushed with oil/water mixture until tender.
  • Toast bread on grill or under broiler.
  • Rub bread with cut garlic cloves.
  • Spread mayonnaise mixture on bread halves and top with grilled mushrooms, sliced tomato and basil leaves.
  • Add lettuce leaves if desired.
  • Serve immediately.

  1. This was a last minute dinner and it turned out great. With a yummy heirloom tomato and fresh basil it was great. I even went without the sour cream; the moisture from the mushroom, tomato and mayo were plent.
     
  2. Love portobello mushrooms!! Only thing I changed was the basil to sage. I have tons of sage growing all over the place and, somehow, I just cannot get basil to grow!! Good thing I love sage and it goes just as well in this recipe. Thanks Dancer^.
