This recipe is from an original 1910 "Wisconsin Farmers' Institutes Cookbook No. 3", that I bought in a small antique shop in eastern WI about 5-6 years ago This is how it is written.......

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 2 lbs pork (I assume they mean "ground pork")
  • 1 pint breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • salt, pepper & sage (to taste?)

Directions

  1. Soak the bread crumbs in the milk.
  2. Add seasonings & eggs (unbeaten).
  3. Form into a loaf with the hands & bake in a moderate (350°) oven for 2 hours.
  4. Apples or potatoes are very nice cooked around the pork.
