  • Heat oil in skillet.
  • Brown pork chops; drain fat.
  • You can skip this step if time doesn't permit.
  • In slow cooker, add soup, chicken broth, thyme, garlic, pepper, onions and potatoes.
  • Stirring to coat.
  • Place browned pork chops on top of potato mixture.
  • Cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours or on High for 4 to 5 hours.

  3. I've been making this recipe for several years now--Oh my! It's one of my family's very favorite recipes! A fine example of comfort food. I always skip the step of browning the chops first... they brown enough for us as they cook (although I suppose that might not be the case for all slow cookers, so you'd have to try it once to see for yourself). I'm perplexed about the comment by one reviewer that the potatoes were in a "very thin, soupy mess" and that she'd leave out the water if she made it again. There is *no* added water in this recipe... perhaps she mistakenly diluted the soup? (You use the condensed soup "as is", straight from the can.) Anyway, all to whom I have served this have enjoyed it. The pork chops and potatoes are tender, the sauce is creamy and very tasty. Try it! You'll like it! :D
     
  4. I cooked the recipe as written, except using garlic powder instead of minced garlic, and I also used regular mushroom soup instead of low fat mushroom soup. I was surprised by how much flavor the dish had. I thought this was very good and will definately make it again. Thank you for sharing.
     
  5. We were disappointed in this one. The potatoes were sitting in a very thin, soupy mess- if I made it again I'd leave out the water and maybe the broth also. The pork chops didn't soak up any of the flavor, so they were rather bland, even though I seasoned them with seasoned salt while browning. I don't know why this one didn't work for us since the other reviewers raved about it, but I don't think I'll try it again. Thanks anyway.

I am a mother of three and live in central Pennsylvania. My children were very active in after school activities and found we weren't spending anytime together at meal time. In 1998, I decided to start cooking my dinners in a crockpot so that we could have a home cooked meal together once everyone came home. My children now get so excited to see what we are having to eat and love the smell when they walk in the door. My family calls me the crock pot queen. LOL I use my crock pot everyday of the year. <br> <br>My three children are now in college and before they come home they request their favorite meal. I still continue to cook in the crock pot for my husband and I. It is nice after a long day to know your meal is ready. It also helps in keeping my grocery bill down. With zaar, I can print my shopping list and that is all I purchase is the ingredients on that list. <br> <br>Now, my two daughters have been crock pot cooking while in college. They find it is easy to cook for the themselves and their friends. It is an easy way to have friends over for dinner after classes <br> <br>I still love trying new recipes and purchasing cookbooks, especially crock pot cookbooks. <br> <br>Happy Cooking!
