- Lightly salt and pepper chops.
- Brown pork chops in olive oil.
- Add onions and garlic and saute until soft, being careful not to burn.
- Add water and bring to a boil.
- Whisk together flour, chicken broth and browning sauce.
- Add to skillet, stirring well.
- Cover and cook over low heat 30 to 45 minutes or until tender.
- Taste gravy and add additional salt and pepper, if necessary.

My dad’s mom “Mammy” taught me so many wonderful recipes as I was growing up; dinner at her house was always an absolute masterpiece of butter, comfort and flavor. I was just telling my husband about her garlic gravy pork chops the other day and this recipe NAILED IT! Sadly she’s no longer with us but this recipe makes me feel like I’m in her kitchen all over again; Johnny Mathis playing, the exhaust fan over her stove running and her saying “Pete! Time for supper!” Thank you food.com; she always just whipped this up and I never got to ask her for her recipe.
