This is a recipe from one of my mother's old cookbooks called Our Favorite Casseroles from the 1970's ...it's very similar to a Lebanese dish I once had that wrapped the meatballs in a cabbage leaf. I usually use a can of diced tomatoes for the recipe instead of cutting them myself, which makes this simple recipe even simpler.

  1. Mix all ingredients except tomatoes.
  2. Shape into balls.
  3. Place in a casserole dish.
  4. Pour tomatoes over the porcupines.
  5. Bake for one hour at 350.
