Popcorn Balls

"My mother used to make these on Halloween for the trick-or-treaters (back when people didn't automatically throw out anything not factory-sealed) and the word would spread and kids would come to our house from all over to get them. She made some one year for a Christmas charity bazaar and they were such a hit, the next year they asked her to make a few more...and then more...until she was making 1,200 of them for a three-day bazaar, and they still sold out!"

  1. These are THE perfect Old Fashioned "stick to your teeth" popcorn balls that I had when I was a kid !! I made 2 batches and passed them around to friends and some elderly neighbors !! EVERYONE went wild for them ! I did add 1 Tbs. of cider vinegar to the sugar and syrup, wich added just the right flavor !! AWESOME !!! Five stars all the way !!

  2. these were delish and easy.. the only thing I did different was add dark corn syrup because it was the only thing I had.. they were delish and easy.. thanks for sharing

  3. These tasted great like old fashioned ones, I added 3tsp of vinegar (for a double batch) like the other reviewer and does give good flavor, either way with or without vinegar they turn out tasty, thanks!

  4. Made these with my daughter for Halloween. First time making them and eat first time eating them. That is why i only gave it 4 starts, becuase I have nothing to compare it to. I am a fan.

I live with my husband near Seattle. I'm a college administrator, a Mac geek, a Deadhead, and a fat activist. I love to mess around (and make a mess) in the kitchen--there isn't much that I don't like to cook. My pie crust is getting almost as good as my mother's, and that's saying something! <img src="http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z265/marymcg/RegSwap1.jpg" border="0" alt="Summer 2007 Regional Swap"> <img src="http://www.caymandesigns.com/foodothers/fallswap.jpg" border="0" alt="2007 Fall and Halloween Swap"> <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"> <img src="http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/bugh8er/food%20and%20swaps/4811_36055_t.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r271/copperhorse58/Birthday%20and%20Celebration%20Images/Calendargirls2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Participation.jpg"> <img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Iwasadopted.jpg"> <img src="http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/bugh8er/Halloween/4811_180759.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket">
