Polish Plum Dumplings

"These were a great favourite of mine as a child; after all, how often did we get to have something yummy with fruit for a main course? I make them in late summer when fresh prune plums are plentiful but they can also be made with apricots. Please note that the time required for the dough to rest is included in the cooking time."

  1. I made these is a simple and easy method. I used purchased pie crust from the store and put half a plum onto a circle I cut out from the dough. Then, I sugared it and sprinkled cinnamon in side before closing over and heating the oven to 350 degrees. I added a dash of water to each one and more cinnamon sugar or pumpkin pie seasoning and bake for 30 minutes until golden. These were pretty amazing with or without ice cream and works equally well with peaches and nectarines. The best part is I can be done with the prep in about 5 minutes.

  2. These are fantastic! My Babci and my Mom always made these with blueberries inside. I like the flavor of the blueberries better. BUT with the sticky dough it's certainly easier with 1 piece of fruit!!

  3. Very tasty - thanks for such a great recipe! Wrapping the plums with the sticky dough was kind of a pain, but the result is definitely worth it. I can't wait to try these cold tomorrow!
