    Motherinparadise's Note:

    The Polynesian Cultural Center has a fantastic luau. One of the best things on the menu is a taro roll (go to for their recipe). The rolls are divine, but I wanted to make a bread out of it for the breadmaker (less work!). I altered the proportions for the machine and dropped the food coloring. A sweet, light bread.

      In your breadmaker, pour in water, yeast, sugar, butter, egg and poi.

      Next add flour.

      Finally, place salt on the top.

      Run your breadmaker as for a 2 pound loaf.

      This is a high riser, so expect it to just fit into a 2 pound breadmaker.

      So far I am really loving this recipe. I am new to bread baking, and a friend had given me too much poi for me to eat, so decided to try this recipe. The dough rose like a dream, I ended up adding 1/2 cup more of flour as it was way too sticky in my stand mixer. Decided to make the dough into rolls, and it worked so nicely. Currently the rolls are in the last rise, oven is preheated, and will let you know how they turn out, so far I am liking this recipe. ALOHA!
