ingredients
- 8 cups plums, chopped and pitted
- 4 cups apples, chopped
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 3⁄4 cup onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons mustard seeds
- 2 tablespoons chili peppers, chopped
- 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 cup cider vinegar
directions
- Combine all ingredients in a large pot.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat.
- Cook until thick and syrupy, about 1 1/2 hours.
- Ladle hot sauce into hot jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
- Process 20 minutes in a boiling-water canner.
- Yields 4 pints. (1 pint serves 4).
