As soon as the plums are ripe, I want to give this a try.
- Wash and quarter the plums. Fill them in a 4-quart mason jar.
- Add 3 cups of dark rum and 4 cups of sugar.
- Turn the jar once every day for 15 days to allow the sugar to dissolve.
- Filter out the fruit bits after 16 days.
- Plum Liquor is ready.
OH MY this is awesome!!! I use wild plums that are a bit tart. I also used white rum it was all I had. When I strained it I then processed the plums and stained them again and am going to use it in a plum rum cake. My neighbors are already talking how we are going to make this next year for the block party.
