I am rating this only 3 stars because my rice still has a little crunch to it. It is better than all the other recipes I've tried, but I just can't get the rice to be completely cooked through. I followed the directions to the letter. Thanks for posting, unfortunately I need to keep searching though.
I hate to break the trend of 5 star reviews! But I'm still looking for the "perfect brown rice" recipe. I followed the directions exactly, yet it was burned on the bottom and still not soft like I would like it. Thanks anyway! :o)
There was still a little water at the bottom of the pan, but the rice was cooked through. I may cook it longer or use a little water next time, like a tablespoon less. Thanks for posting the recipe.
Absolutely perfect! I always make brown rice and it is still grainy. NOT this time! I think it needs a little salt though
This was really good! I've just switched to brown rice, and I am trying to find the best way to make it, and this was the best so far! I also sauteed half of a small onion in some olive oil until soft, then added in about 2 1/2 cups of water and 1 cup brown rice. I then followed the given instructions. Thank you for sharing, will make again!
I doubled this recipe. I cooked exactly to the directions, on medium-low heat. The top layer of rice was perfect, fluffy and great. The middle to bottom layers were burned to a crisp. This needs some tweaking. Sorry.
The best recipe!!!! Thanks u so much. If you follow the instructions you got it. Perfect, perfect, yummy
It was good but mine was not perfect, we had to scoop the rice out of the liquid that remained in the bottom. I used chicken broth instead of water. After it sat on the table for about 10 minutes it was just fine. I think I will make it again just add a little more sitting time or a little less water. Thank you.
At first it burned and i was pissed, i guess you have to turn the flame lower than regular rice to simmer. 2nd time,,,seemed to come out well. 3rd time after it was done, i cooked onion in seperate pan for 3 minutes then added some broccoli sprouts and a splash of water and covered for 3 minutes, then added the rice and some oregano 1/2 a lime and some seasoning and kids loved it...i stared in amazement the whole time, they wouldn't touch it before! Thanks for the recipe! It beats having the whole oven running for an hour!
Thank you for sharing this! I follwed the directions on the back of the package of brown rice and it came out watery and I had to cook it a lot longer. I searched on here for a recipe, and I'm so glad I picked this one! I may use chicken broth in place of tbe water next time to up the flavor factor, but overall, this is a fool proof way to cook brown rice!
