Awesome! Picture does not do these justice at all. I cooked my meatballs in the oven and did not use slowcooker. Also leaving out the bread crumbs for a lower carb meal. I served these with Italian green beans. Sauce is delish!

Sheesh, I didn't even finish making the sauce for these, and I realized that DH was secretly snagging the meatballs from the pan on the countertop whenever he'd walk by! That's a pretty big complement, since DH usually wrinkles his nose at ground beef stuff (meatloaf, meatballs, etc.). I had to improvise a bit for the sauce portion, since I didn't realize before I started making these that I had no canned tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes. I did have a couple jars of fresh-canned tomatoes from the landlord's garden, so I used those instead. After the sauce cooked for a bit, I just pureed the sauce with my stick blender and stirred in a bit of tomato paste. The sauce was good, but not very pizza-esque, so next time I'll make sure I have the right tomato products on hand. Good stuff, thanks for posting! Made for PAC Spring 2012

Made these as mini-meatballs & almost just doubled the recipe instead of doing that! Was glad I dkd, though, 'cause my guests thought they wer so cute! Tasty, too, so I was thoroughly happy with the recipe & the results! Many thanks for sharing it! [Made & reviewed for one of my adoptees in this Spring's round of Pick A Chef]
