Pizza Dips

"These are little sausage balls that you dip in a warm pizza sauce. Really good and I rarely have any left when I make these."

  • Brown meat in frying pan; drain excess fat.
  • Combine flour, cheese, Italian seasoning and salt in mixing bowl.
  • Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add sausage; mix until evenly distributed.
  • Sprinkle with ice water and stir until dough is just moist enough to handle.
  • Shape into 1-inch balls; place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 450F for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve hot with dipping sauce.
  • Dipping Sauce:

  • Combine all ingredients in saucepan and heat to simmering. Keep warm while serving.

  2. I tried the sauce with a cooking class that I teach in an elementary school and we served them with pretzels. It was tasty!

OK lets see...My name is Diane and I'm married to a wonderful guy -- going on 20 years. We have 2 kids -- 1 daughter and 1 son a 70lb german shepard, a fat cat and a very snobby cat! I work a couple of days a week in the Loop and the rest of my time is spent sitting at the kids sporting events. I love to try new recipes. Luckily, hubby will try just about anything. The kids aren't so eager about that, but are generally very good sports about it!
