Pizza Casserole

"I got this out of a recipe magazine several years ago and have changed it up a bit. My kiddo and hubby loved it! We prefer the sausage to ground beef (more flavor). Although you could also use ground turkey for a more healthy option."

directions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F Spray 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Place sausage in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain excess fat. Stir in pizza sauce. Remove from heat, and set aside.
  • Cut biscuits into quarters, and place in the bottom of baking dish. Spread meat mixture evenly over the biscuits. If you have other toppings to add (i.e., pepperoni, Canadian bacon, onion, olives and mushrooms, etc) do so at this time.
  • Bake uncovered in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle top with mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. Bake an additional 5 to 10 minutes, until cheese is melted. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

  1. Wonderful recipe! I saw the original recipe and the changes you made to the recipe were just right . We used the I talian sausage ,pepperoni, red onion, roasted red peppers mushrooms (canned) and black olives. We added some Parmesan along with the other cheeses. I used 3 (7.5 oz each) cans of biscuits, actually about 21/2 cans and my pan was covered. The crust was done perfectly -I baked it for about 3 minutes by itself, then added my toppings and baked 25 minutes added cheeses and baked 10 minutes more. This way the pepperoni got a little browned before adding the cheese-yum! Thanks for posting -I looked through dozens of bubble pizza recipes before deciding on yours to make-glad I did. It's all gone and my hubby and son loved it too. I will definately make it again-it's fun to make too.

I have one lil' girl who is 5 and another on the way (due in December). My hubby and I are pretty into fitness (weight lifting, rock climbing, etc). So as you will notice, I've got quite a few "protein" recipes. I love to bake. Cooking is okay but my real joy is baked goods (i.e., breads, pastas, cakes, cookies, etc). Not so conducive to the healthy lifestyle. But I like to say everything in moderation!!!
