This is a quick and easy side that can complement almost any meal. I served this at an Italian themed Christmas Dinner with Baked Ziti, Macaroni and Cheese With Egg Noodles and Cream, along with veggies (zucchini and asparagus) and a green leafy salad. Everyone went crazy over this bread, even the kids. From "Every Day Italian" on Food Network.
- 1 lb purchased pizza dough
- flour, for surface
- 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leave, chopped
- 3⁄4 teaspoon coarse salt
- Position the oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 450 degrees.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured work surface, to 1/2 inch thick.
- Transfer the dough to a heavy large baking sheet. Using a fork, pierce the dough all over.
- Drizzle the oil over the dough. Sprinkle with thyme and salt.
- Bake until golden, about 15 minutes. Remove from oven and cut into serving size wedges.
- Note: When I made this, I added crushed garlic to the oil before brushing it onto the dough, and I after sprinkling the thyme, I also sprinkled on some parmesan cheese.
Just finished making this for Sunday football game time. I agree with the previous reviewer, the topping was more like a topping for focciaccia but either way, it's delicious. Easy to put together, and I also used a bit of minced garlic mixed with the oil and parm cheese. Great!
The name is kinda misleading to me, I thought this was going to be more of a pizza but it is more of a foccacia bread. I used bread from Make Ahead Turkey Roll Ups and made about half a batch of this. This went great with Simple Breaded Veggies Pasta for an excellent dinner! Very good recipe!
Looks like the picture showed but not my review so i will try again. This was wonderful! I added crushed rosemary with the thyme as well as garlic, and used a foccaccia recipe i had for the dough. I ate half of it, but will be using the other half for a panini tomorrow :)
