Out of this world! The sauce needs more rum though. I would just sub the water with rum and then thin some more, if necessary. Oh, and more cinnamon in the pie, too.
What an amazingly flavorful apple pie! The filling tastes almost like mincemeat. I didn't make the sauce or add the raisins (at my guys' request), but next time I will. This is definitely worth the work. Made for Think Pink 2009.
I made this recipe in the Zaar's tag game in support of breast cancer awareness... Think Pink. This was the best apple pie I believe I've ever eaten. I happened to make it on a day when I had company... not a piece left over! It was delicious! Some stated they couldn't taste the rum in the sauce, so I believe I may increase it a bit next time... However, it is well worth the time... I also cheated and did make mine with the premade crust. Thanks Dawn!
