I didn't have to use any milk because I used most of the juice from the can of crushed pineapple. I used plain white bread, and they turned out great!

Sherrybeth, you are so right about this recipe. It's a standard for me and I've surprised many people with its deliciousness. I also love it on wheat bread or now that I live further North of my Southern Roots, potato rolls. I often serve it as a spread with spiral ham slices.

I made this for a tea party, and it was delicious. I served it on thinly sliced, toasted Nauvoo bread (recipe available on this site). I also included thinly sliced ham on the sandwiches, which made for a perfect combination.
