This is a popular topping for hamloaf / ham balls! WOW! Try my various hamloaf & glaze recipes till you find your 'fit!' This is almost ALWAYS served at Christmas, Easter & Thanksgiving here in the heart of Lancaster County! ENJOY! 1 loaf - enough sauce for 1 loaf or 1 batch of ham balls
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
- 3⁄4 cup water
- 2 1⁄2 tablespoons vinegar
- 8 ounces crushed pineapple
- Combine all ingredients& heat to boiling, then pour over loaf (or balls) and continue baking as directed.
This was a pretty good glaze but I thought the mustard was really overpowering and had too much of a bite to it. I added a little bit more of the other ingredients and it was great! I used it on your Lancaster County ham loaf recipe and it tasted just like my husband's grandma's recipe. Thank you for posting!
very good! I used it for hamloaf! I halved it and had plenty and I didn't use the crushed pineapple, but used pineapple juice. I halved the water and just added the juice to equal 3/4 cup. I was dissappointed that it didn't have more flavor, but overall it was good!
excellent glaze. i needed a last minute recipe for a ham glaze and this worked perfect. we had everything in the house already and the entire family thought it was delicious. thanks for the post.
