Sounds great; haven't made this one yet, but will do so soon. This is for Chef # 762139: Maybe this will help your confusion over the directions. Step 2: the flour and water are used in step 8. Everything else is used in step 2. Step 5 : This says to drain & reserve the liquid, meaning the roast & pineapple is first removed as in step 4. You may have to strain out the pineapple in a mesh strainer when you do step 5. Set the pineapple aside with the roast. Pour the liquid into a 2 cup measuring cup. Step 6: Put the roast & pineapple back into the crockpot. Step 7: Note how much liquid is in the measuring cup and add enough water to reach the 1 3/4 cup mark on the measuring cup. Step 8: Now take 1/4 cup water from the faucet and the 2 Tablespoons of flour & blend in the saucepan as directed in step 8. Step 9: Use the water & pineapple juice mixture & stir into the flour/water mixture in the saucepan. Then follow steps 10 through 12. Hope this helps.

I made this the other night, but only used a small can of crushed pineapple since that's what I had. I added it (with juice) at the beginning rather than later. The roast turned out great. I thickened it with a little cornstarch and water about an hour before we ate. The next night I heated up the leftovers with some BBQ sauce for sandwiches.

This was a very confusing recipe. For example, step #2 says "combine all ingredients except flour and water" but it leaves out that you are also suppose to leave out the pineapple until step #5. Also, in step #7 it was unclear which "liquid" to add the water to -- the pineapple liquid? The liquid that was in the crock pot when you took out the roast in step #4? I assumed it was the crock pot liquid since in step #9 it refers to "hot liquid" and I didn't know what other liquid would be hot. Good, but steps need to be more clear.
