Picadillo

"Picadillo is a great Latin American dish.This is my version of picadillo after I tinkered around with an old recipe. I like to serve this over rice. The currants and almonds go very nicely in the dish and give it a more exotic flavor."

  • Fry the beef in oil til browned, drain off fat.
  • Add garlic, onion and pepper. Cook, stirring often, until onion is tender, about 3 minutes.
  • Stir in all of the remaining ingredients except almonds. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, 15 - 20 minute Serve hot, garnish with almonds.
