  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Either have your butcher slice the meat or freeze meat for 30 minutes so that it is easier to slice very thin.
  • Heat a large saute pan over medium high heat and saute all of the vegetables together until they are soft and caramelized.
  • Keep warm In a large cast iron pan or a griddle over medium high heat saute the beef slices very quickly.
  • Lay just enough of the slices to cover the bottom of your pan.
  • As you finish filling the pan it will be time to turn the first pieces over.
  • When the meat is browned, but not crisp, remove to a plate and continue with remaining meat.
  • When all of the meat is cooked, place the rolls on a sheet pan, fill with beef and vegetables, top with cheese and put sheet pan into the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly- about 15 minutes.

  1. We made these last night and we enjoyed them. I didnt have provolone so I used swiss cheese but they were still good. Thank you for sharing, I will make these again as they are DH's favorite sandwich.

  2. Super! We actually used top sirloin and had the butcher slice it very thin. Turned out great!

  3. So good! I had my butcher "sliver" up a nice whole sirloin for this. I made the recipe exactly as written, except that I did season the meat with a bit of Cajun Seasoning.(Just personal tastes.) Used hoagie rolls, and smoked provolone from the deli. My boys LOVED these!! We had no leftovers! This made a perfect quick and delicious Friday night dinner with some home-made cole slaw, and chips! Thanks bmxmama, we'll add this to our regular list of week end favorites!!

  4. So easy and so good! A perfect sandwich supper for middle of the week. These are very filling and are a meal-in-one sandwiches which we enjoyed. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Delicious and filling enough to make a meal -- no sides needed. I love the addition of the red peppers as I prefer them to green ones. I think the bread you choose is important too -- we get special ones at a local market that are especially light. Thinly sliced meat, oodles of melted cheese and tasty veggies tucked between some warm bread -- what else could you possibly want? :)

  1. This was yummy and so easy to prepare. The only change I made was I used gouda cheese instead of provolone. DH just loved it. I will certainly be making this one again. Thanks for posting Mean.
