  1. Do not use rice vinegar!! & Sesame oil!!

  2. This was OK but not anything like PF Changs. I added a bit more sugar, more soy sauce and some ground thai peppers to add some spice since it came out very shrimp tasting.

  3. This was a very close version of what PF Chang's actually makes. I think it is a little different but it's still delicious.

  4. This is really good, flavorful soup. Prep time took much more than 20 minutes (the wontons take a long time!), but the soup was delicious. The only changes I made were to use bok choy instead of spinach and ground chicken for the pork. Leftovers don't hold up too well as the wontons tend to fall apart. I really enjoyed this soup though, thanks for posting!

  5. I used 12 cups broth - some homemade some store bought, no water chestnuts. Added bok choy, chinese cabbage, broccoli, carrots, snow peas and noodles. We did the wonton recipe and the one from 318453 which had some five spice powder. I was trying to replicate some hearty special chinese soups we have had in restaurants and it was darn close.

Tweaks

  1. I have read this recipe several times and do not see the rice wine someone signed to not use. HELP! I plan to make this this evening for guests.

  2. correction, I meant the rice vinegar.

  3. This soup is exactly the same but please replace rice vinegar with sesame oil. Sesame oil will make or break this dish. You need to put 2tbls in the broth and like 3 tbls of soy sauce in the broth. Do not use rice vinegar it will ruin the dish.

I currently live in Stuart, Florida which is a great place to live. I moved here from Orlando many years ago to live the life of a beach bum and have gotten quite good at it. I am actually a Yankee, but becoming more Southern by the day. During the past several years I found an absolute love for cooking. The man in my life loves to eat so we make a good match. I absolutely love Recipezaar and can no longer live without it. I think it is great that I can see what other people think of the recipes before I try them. I have some favorite chefs and reviewers on this site and I know when I try their recipes I can never lose ! My passions are my family, my fiance', my cat (Tasha), the beach, and now cooking. My pet peeve is anyone that abuses animals. AND THIS IS A BIG PET PEEVE ! I am currently a Paralegal but can't see myself doing this forever. If I did not work, I would probably spend my time cooking and taking care of the 50-animals that I would most likely adopt.
